Job Description

The Director of Business Development is primarily and directly responsible for growing participation in Pittsburgh's vast commercial building market. This position is responsible for producing effective sales and marketing strategies, capturing new business opportunities that enable Nello Construction to meet and exceed revenue targets, developing corporate communications, and representing the company in a manner that reflects the company's core values and high standards of integrity.


• Maintaining and improving the company's business development systems, policies, processes and approach
• Generating and qualifying new business leads through networking, cold-calling, and follow-up calls
• Building a strong network within the A/E/C industry, including existing relationships with key players in the industry
• Establishing goals, objectives, strategies, and budget requirements for marketing and developing new business
• Securing multiple client and partner appointments weekly to develop and maintain relationships
• Identifying industry trends and pursuing opportunities in new building markets
• Delivering customer presentations
• Preparing written proposals and qualification statements (RFPs, RFQs)
• Participate in key industry organizations and networking groups
• Website and online marketing management


• 5+ years of business development experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or relative field
• Proven track record selling and closing required
• A/E/C industry experience preferred
• Strategic thinking and leadership skills
• Strong negotiation, public speaking, and presentations skills
• Organizational, visual, and verbal skills necessary to deliver high-quality oral and written communications
• Able to successfully manage multiple, high priority tasks
• Understanding of online marketing & social media marketing
• Self-motivated
