McMurray, PA - Nello Construction is working on a sweet new build-out at Donaldson's Crossroads in the center of Peters Township.
The official cupcake provider of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Dozen Bake Shop will soon be occupying 3,200 square feet inside of the shopping center's north entrance courtyard located at 4004 Washington Rd.
Opening in late spring is ideal since the landlord, Pittsburgh-based Zamagias Properties, is nearly finished updating the building's courtyard with new floor tile, light fixtures, and paint.
Two of the neighboring businesses in the courtyard, The Little Gym and Iddy Biddy Fashions, are kid-centric.
To no surprise, Dozen's new full-service bakery and café will have child-friendly amenities including a glass wall in the bakery where children can get a front row seat to watch cake decorating.
Additionally, the space will include a party room that can accommodate fifteen people and hold dessert decorating classes for both children and adults.
To date, Dozen Bake Shop has been mostly praised for their six flavors of cupcakes and custom wedding cakes designed by Megan Hart. In 2011, Megan competed in season two of TLC's "Next Great Baker" hosted by Buddy Valastro, the Cake Boss.
Dozen's menu will also include signature soups, salads, vegan cookies, homemade ice cream, and paletas (Mexican popsicles).
"We pride ourselves on using quality, all natural ingredients and purchase materials from local vendors," confirmed Doreen Valentine, Dozen's owner.
The new café will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hours include Monday through Friday 7-9, Saturdays 8-9, and Sunday brunch will be held from 8-3.
